JAMES W. “JIM”GALLAHER, SR.

1948-2021
Jim Gallaher joined the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department in March of 1977 at the age of 28, and almost immediately devoted his spare time to becoming a professional and well-trained volunteer firefighter.  Jim moved rapidly through the ranks of the Department and was elected department Chief from 1985-1987.  Jim gave selflessly of himself and his time in service to the residents of the Lincoln Fire District, and earned the title of “Firefighter of the Year” in 1991.  Tragically, on February 28, 2006, while directing traffic at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Route 350, Jim was struck by a passing car and critically injured.  While Jim eventually recovered from his injuries, they resulted in lifelong health complications that led to his inability to further perform the duties of an active firefighter, and he requested that he be transitioned to life membership for medical reasons in June of 2007.  Despite his failing health, Jim continued to attend Department meetings and functions as his health allowed, and to contribute to the community where he could.  Unfortunately, Jim’s long-term suffering took its toll, and he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, February 27, 2021.  The Officers and men and women of the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department express their deepest condolences to Jim’s family, and offer their thoughts and prayers. In lieu of flowers, Jim requested donations to the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department and Western Wayne Ambulance Inc. An online donation to the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department can be made via this PayPal link.

Rest in peace, Brother…we’ll take it from here.
